Sudan ISD board cancels May 3 trustee election, certifies unopposed candidates

The Sudan Independent School District Board voted on March 10 to cancel the May 3, 2025 general trustee election after administrators reported there were no opposed candidates. Superintendent Scott Harrell presented an order of cancellation and recommended approval; Clay Carr moved to approve and Joe Ky Shultz seconded. "Mr. Harrell presented an order of cancellation for the May 3, 2025, general trustee election as well as recommending approval of the order," the minutes record, and the motion carried 6-0.
Harrell then presented paperwork certifying the unopposed candidates for the General Election and recommended that the board approve the certification. "Mr. Harrell presented paperwork showing that there were no opposed candidates in the general trustee election," the record states. Clay Carr moved to approve the certification and Ryan Netherland seconded; the board approved the recommendation 6-0. No contested races will appear on the May 3 ballot for the district’s trustee seats as a result of the certification.
