Nonprofit pitches golf discovery center at JFK to expand workforce and youth opportunities

Partner instructors and program staff emphasized that the nonprofit would raise capital and seek grants and sponsorships to build and operate the center; the organization requested only municipal land and pledged it would not seek taxpayer funds to operate the facility.
Council members asked about alternate sites, construction timeline (estimated about a year), and integration with the recreation department’s registration and programming infrastructure. Harvey said registration would continue to be handled through the recreation department and that Swing 2 Tee programming would be incorporated. Council did not vote on a land request; they thanked the presenters and asked for follow-up materials.
