Bryan Rose, board president of Bethany Charter School, told the Silver Falls School District 4J board at its Nov. 24 work session that the charter wants to build a gymnasium and needs a stable occupancy arrangement to proceed. He said the charter "pay $1.00 per year in rent" and, under that arrangement, is responsible for all maintenance.
Rose asked the board whether the charter could purchase the building or, if purchase were not possible, negotiate a 20-year contract to secure long-term use so the project could begin. Board members asked questions about options and implications; no formal motion or decision on the request was recorded during the work session. The matter will remain before the board for further consideration.
