The Tatum Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to certify three unopposed candidates for the May 3, 2025 board election and to cancel the election under state law.
Superintendent Dr. J.P. Richardson recommended approval of the certification for Everigester Adams Jr. (Place 4), Dennis Williams (Place 5) and Erika Smith (Place 7) as presented by election official Brandon Milam. "Mr. Everigester Adams, Jr., Place 4, Mr. Dennis Williams, Place 5, and Mrs. Erika Smith, Place 7, have been certified as unopposed and are hereby elected to the Tatum ISD Board of Trustees," the board recorded when it approved an Order of Cancellation in accordance with Section 2.053(a) of the Texas Election Code. The motion to certify and the motion to adopt the order each carried 6-0.
The action means no election will be held on May 3 for those three seats; the certified candidates will assume their positions as elected per the statute. The district noted Brandon Milam served as the election official who presented the proposed certifications.
