Zillah updates: splash park approvals, dog park construction and new pickleball courts

Mayor Scott Carmack told the council the city has received state and federal approvals to begin construction of a splash park the first week of December, with completion targeted for Community Days in May. He also reported the dog park is under construction and nearing completion, and City Administrator Michael Grayum confirmed the conversion of former tennis/skate areas into six completed pickleball courts at Loges Park.
The mayor noted a recently completed feasibility study that included renderings for a proposed Public Market along Vintage Valley Parkway and said meetings with the Chamber of Commerce and the Yakima County Economic Development Commission were supportive. He also announced Old-Fashioned Christmas on Dec. 14, thanked donor David Schelert and acknowledged Boy Scouts and volunteers involved in the event.
