Council considered Yakima Waste's proposed adjustments tied to a July-to-July CPI increase of 4.54% and a Yakima County dump-fee increase of 2.87%, a combined change of 7.41 percent that the ordinance applies to next year's rates.
Councilmember Beth Hustead moved the ordinance and Councilmember Doug Stewart seconded; the motion passed unanimously. City staff presented the CPI and county-fee figures during the study-session review and said the change reflects those outside cost drivers rather than a city-imposed surcharge.
