The Tarkington ISD Board of Trustees on Jan. 13 received presentations on district facility needs and three bond options as staff and outside advisers reviewed costs and the community outreach that has informed the proposals. Superintendent Dr. Elna Davis said the district held 11 meetings to provide information for a May 2024 bond outreach and six meetings related to November 2024 outreach, and board members reviewed material from a Jan. 9 Future Forward meeting about the possibility of holding a bond election in May 2025.
Communications Coordinator Stephanie Young described an ongoing facility-needs survey sent to the community. Mr. Davis Golden of McKinley Golden Architects presented projected costs for a potential new building, renovations and portable classrooms; Joey Dawson of Live Oak Public Finance answered financial questions; and Ben Morse of Leon Alcala, PLLC answered procedural questions about how the district could list bond propositions. There were no action items on the agenda and the board did not vote on a bond at the meeting.
