Sweetwater ISD trustees hear progress report on high school gym and CTE building

Board President Mark Garcia opened the Oct. 22 meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Sweetwater Independent School District at 5:31 p.m. in the J P Cowen Cafeteria. Scott Cottonior, high school principal, reported on construction progress at the high school and Career and Technical Education (CTE) facilities.
"Walls have gone up over the last few weeks, workers are working late in the evenings and on Saturday," Cottonior said, adding that "some concrete has been poured for the CTE building and soon we will see beams going up." He also said there "have been no issues with students getting across Crane Street to their classes at the Maintenance Warehouse." The minutes do not list specific construction completion dates or contractor names.
The update focused on site activity and student access rather than budget changes. Trustees did not take formal action on the bond projects during the meeting; the report served as an informational update to the Board and community.
