Board raises fitness-center membership rates and athletic worker pay to bolster self-funding

At its Oct. 28 meeting, the Hill City board approved new fitness-center membership rates of $100 per individual and $150 per family, with new rates payable upon renewal. The motion was moved by Joell Miranda and seconded by Sarah Kingsley and passed 6–0. The fitness-center committee recommended the increase to permit the center to cover equipment and supply updates.
Separately at the Nov. 25 meeting, the board approved higher pay for game workers — $55 per event, $140 per tournament — and $45 per junior-high referee game to align compensation with workload and help staffing for athletic events. Those pay changes were approved by roll call, 5–0 with one absence. The combined actions are intended to stabilize and support district extracurricular operations.
