Puckett said the Northview Volunteer Fire Department Board "has requested an increase in funding for the next fiscal year to $1.3 million," citing the City of Sevierville’s planned discontinuation of its funding after a Sevierville Fire Department station in Kodak is scheduled to open in Fall 2026. Chief Puckett recommended maintaining the current county funding model rather than immediately increasing direct county funding, while continuing to assist Northview in pursuing grant opportunities. Mayor Larry Waters added that the County had not received an official request from Northview seeking additional funding. Commissioners Mike Hillard and Aaron Foster expressed concern that uncertainty about the Department’s future could prompt volunteer personnel to leave.
