The council introduced four ordinances for further consideration at the June meeting, placing each on first reading and scheduling a public hearing.
Ordinance 13 o 1-26 proposes amendments to recreation program fees and will be considered for final passage at the June meeting with notice posted and an opportunity for public comment. Councilmembers highlighted a new referee-pay structure for youth soccer programs and credited local volunteer Craig Mahler for referee training.
Ordinance 13 o 2-26 is a police department salary ordinance to fix wages and compensation for police department personnel for 2026 through 2029; it will return to the council for a final vote in June. Ordinance 13 o 3-26 updates and cleans up organizational descriptions for the Department of Public Works (DPW), including clearer division of sewer responsibilities and removing outdated references to a golf-course division. Councilmembers asked clarifying questions about the changes and were told the reorganization places sewer and other divisions into cleaner structures.
Ordinance 13 o 4-26 amends the code to set contracted off-duty employment rates for police officers; it also was scheduled for a June public hearing. Each ordinance was introduced on first reading and the borough clerk was directed to publish required notice of hearing and final passage dates.
