Council President read the introduction of ordinance 12-50-24 to amend the Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP) for the fire department and moved that the ordinance be adopted on first reading.
"Ordinance number 12 50 dash 24 be in the same as hereby adopted on 1st reading," the council president read as the clerk was directed to publish the required notice. The ordinance was scheduled for final consideration at a council meeting in April 2024 at 7:30 p.m., at which time interested persons will have an opportunity to be heard.
Council members briefly discussed potential conflicts of interest related to votes by fire department members on LOSAP matters and confirmed quorum requirements for final passage. No substantive amendment was made at the meeting; the item remains open for public comment at the April hearing.
