The council considered and passed a resolution opposing Senate Bill 23-47, which town leadership said would broadly revise single- and two-family zones across New Jersey by effectively allowing accessory dwelling units with limited municipal controls. The resolution asserts the bill fails to permit municipalities to restrict ADU occupancy by income, to require deed restrictions, or to limit ADU size, and argues those gaps could worsen runoff, increase impervious coverage and undermine local planning.
During discussion a council member said the resolution "would oppose Senate Bill 23-47, not only for its detrimental impact on zoning, but for its disregard and contradiction to existing state land use regulations." The council voted by roll call to adopt the resolution and directed the clerk to forward certified copies to the governor, the state legislature and the League of Municipalities.
