Superintendent Mr. Dowdy reported at the Feb. 19 board meeting that district enrollment has remained steady compared with the previous month but attendance has been reduced recently because of sickness and weather. He also updated trustees on various campus reports read into the record.
The junior high implemented the CW-FIT research-based grant in partnership with the University of Kansas and reported increases in on-task behavior, more positive teacher-student interactions and fewer disruptions. Mr. Dowdy also reported that the district's CNA program will be enhanced next year through a partnership with MCC, which the minutes say will donate a nursing bed to the program. Graduation for Valley Mills High School is scheduled for Friday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Exchange in McGregor.
