Board approves multiple capital bond acts for HVAC, building management, IT and transit upgrades

On Aug. 3 the Westchester County Board approved several bond acts to modernize county facilities and systems, including $2,525,000 for a countywide building management system to address HVAC needs, $1,300,000 for building access control and video surveillance upgrades, and $2,065,000 for a new bus radio and data system.
Sponsor remarks noted rising construction and vendor costs and described the upgrades as necessary to address aging equipment and to modernize operations. "The additional funding is needed to address unforeseen project complexities and also the higher vendor and labor costs to get this done," said the sponsor for the surveillance and access-control item during committee reporting.
The board passed each item unanimously, and committee chairs said projects are expected to proceed on the timelines outlined in committee briefings. Departments will coordinate procurement and implementation following standard county capital project procedures.
