Yoo said the composition of volunteers has shifted and daytime coverage has become difficult: "Now these EMTs would not nothing more than to provide, the service to their community, you know, that they call home." He explained that contracting with a hospital or outside service may not improve response reliability and suggested exploring a per‑diem stipend program or a shared daytime service if a neighboring municipality partners in the cost.
Council directed the EMS committee to collaborate on a proposition and invited borough professionals (including the chief and CFO) to the next discussion. Yoo said he will formally introduce a resolution at the next council meeting; members signaled early support for further study but asked for a careful financial analysis before committing to paid staffing.
