Yelm Community Schools introduces new director of finance

Superintendent Woods introduced Veronica Birdsong as the district's new director of finance and told trustees Birdsong has already begun work with central office staff on the coming budget cycle. "We are very excited to have Veronica here as our director of finance," Woods said, noting Birdsong's prior roles in Tacoma and Tukwila and positive references from previous colleagues.

Woods said Birdsong "has already, doing a great job" in short time with the district and has begun conversations about the levy and budget. The superintendent also noted that some administrators are covering multiple roles and that Birdsong's arrival helps address that workload. The district did not provide Birdsong's first day or full resume in the meeting record; trustees were told they would receive additional budget-related documents in the coming weeks ahead of August decision meetings.
