Valley Mills ISD board certifies election, reorganizes leadership

The Valley Mills Independent School District Board of Trustees on May 13 formally canvassed the results of the May 3, 2025 trustee election, administered the Oath of Office to newly elected trustees and reorganized board leadership.
A motion to accept the May 3 election results was made by Jim Blackford and seconded by Steven Owens and was recorded as passed in the minutes. Sara Martinez presented the Oath of Office for Kristy Hollingsworth and Douglas Shanafelt. In a subsequent motion to elect officers, the board voted to name Mike Jones president, Jim Blackford vice president and Tammie Mann-Chrisman secretary; the minutes record the reorganization motion as passed (Yea: 7, Nay: 0). The minutes list Kristy Hollingsworth, Jake Wolf, Steven Owens and Douglas Shanafelt as trustees.
The action completes the post-election reorganization required after the May trustee election and will govern board leadership until the next reorganization. The board set its next regular meeting for June 17, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.
