The Troup ISD Board of Trustees on Aug. 28 adopted an ordinance setting the 2025 tax rate at $0.832419 per $100 valuation. The board's posted minutes record that $0.742200 per $100 valuation will go to Maintenance and Operations (M&O) and $0.090219 per $100 valuation will go to Interest and Sinking (I&S). The motion to adopt the tax rate was made by Lisa Lewis and seconded by Vic Bansal; the vote was unanimous, 7-0. The minutes note the ordinance was signed by Board President Shane Jasper and attested by Board Secretary Lisa Lewis, and that the posted ordinance was later revised to include required legal verbiage.
The posted record states the rate "will effectively be raised by 22.62%" and that it "will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 by approximately $15.30." (The posted minute included a negative sign before the $15.30 figure, which the district's record has been corrected to show as an increase.) The board did not discuss additional tax-rate adjustments in the posted summary; any repayment schedules, taxpayer examples, or roll-back calculations would appear in the full tax-rate exhibits that typically accompany a finalized ordinance.
