Public works reports summer upkeep, water-meter replacements and street projects

Public Works Director Jack Burton told the Uintah City Council that the department completed extensive summer maintenance, including mowing the park 17 times and trimming it 10 times, applying fertilizer in May and October and treating grubs at the city office and park.
Burton said crews installed a new back-flow preventer at the city building, capped seven sprinklers and replaced five at the park, and replaced 38 water meters that had bad batteries or malfunctioning parts. He reported that all city water valves and fire hydrants have been mapped by GPS and 28 valves were identified as having problems that will require follow-up. He also noted an overlay project was completed on 2125 East and patchwork performed on 6600 East, and the city received a bid for an electronic radar speed sign.
