Superintendent Jones presented a proposed bond package totaling $22,205,000 that would fund projects at the district's elementary and high school campuses. The elementary portion is estimated at $6,351,850 and would add a centralized main entrance and corridor, new small intervention-classroom spaces and a remodeled kitchen with expanded storage and updated cooking equipment. The high school package, estimated at $15,850,600, would add science classrooms and labs, a CTE building with a shop and classrooms, and a second competition gym to increase practice capacity and provide a safety barrier between spectators and the court.
Support Services director Preston Lindsey told the board the new scoreboard is scheduled for installation Aug. 26 and said grounds and buildings were in good shape for the first day of school. Community member Rick Hamedi, who signed up to speak on facilities, praised the Facilities Planning Committee's focus on "only the necessities required to safely and adequately provide for the students" and commended the district's upkeep. The superintendent said financial advisors recommended leaving existing bond funds in the fund balance rather than paying them off now so the district can use available funds for projects not included in the proposed bond.
