Conservation Commission raises no objection to elevator addition at 59 Harbor Road within tidal buffer

TMS Architects' Shannon Alther presented plans to add an elevator to the south side of 59 Harbor Road to improve owner accessibility. Alther told the Commission there will be "approximately 28 s.f. of permanent disturbance in the buffer with about 50 s.f. of temporary disturbance during construction." The house is inside the 100-foot tidal buffer and the project will require variances from the Zoning Board.
Commissioners said a site walk had been conducted and that the elevator would be sited in a recessed pocket of the existing building with minimal land impact; the project was described as the most logical location for access. The Commission voted it had no objection to the plan as presented, and the applicant will pursue required variances.
