Eatontown honors four police officers promoted to sergeant

Eatontown held a promotion ceremony on June 24 recognizing four officers who were sworn in as sergeants. Chief Healy opened the ceremony by telling the audience, “Tonight is more than a promotion ceremony. It is a celebration of commitment, leadership, and excellence.” Family members and fellow officers attended the event in Council Chambers.
Chief Healy and the mayor named the four officers promoted in the remarks: Sergeant Kevin Linnet (presented with family), Sergeant Kent Erickson, Sergeant James Christie and Sergeant Michael Schmuerler. The chief described the rank as “a responsibility earned through years of hard work, sound judgment, professionalism, and a demonstrated ability” and thanked families and the department’s trainers for their support. The council recessed the workshop after the ceremony and moved on to the regular meeting.
