The Veribest ISD Board approved the adoption of the Bluebonnet Learning curriculum and approved two probationary teaching contracts at its Dec. 16 meeting.
Board President Mark Kellermeier moved to approve a 12‑month probationary Ag Science contract for JP Chavarria and a 10‑month probationary teaching contract for Susan Becker Garcia. Thadd Martin seconded; the motion passed 6–0. Superintendent Amanda Traylor's report and the agenda packet noted the district will pursue grant funding (LASO and PLC opportunities) to offset curriculum adoption costs and to support teacher stipends related to implementation.
Superintendent Traylor later told the board the district will apply for a LASO grant associated with adopting TEA‑aligned Bluebonnet curriculum, and that each adoption can bring approximately $200,000 to help cover curriculum costs and teacher stipends for implementation.
