Staff updated the board on the annual renewal process for the district’s food-service provider, Sodexo, and said the state returned approval for the contract renewal.
The presenter explained the adjustment is a contractual increase tied to CPI and said, “It's a 3.1% increase on the management fee and the administrative fee, which brings it up from just over 9¢ per meal on the management fee to 9.36¢ per meal. The administrative fee increased from 23.59¢ to 24.32¢ per meal.” Staff noted that total district reimbursement depends on total meals served — if meal counts fall, the vendor could lose money despite the higher per-meal rate; the operating budget for food service will report the updated calculations once state forms are finalized.
Board members asked whether free lunch/breakfast programs would continue; staff said at present there is no indication the programs will end and that summer programs are using the same premium-style application. The board will receive the full state-provided pricing forms and comparisons in upcoming board briefs before any action is taken.
