Board awards $604,600 elevator modernization bid for Monroe High and Middle

The board authorized a bid award to Gratton Construction of Monroe, Michigan, for elevator modernization at Monroe High School and Monroe Middle School at a cost not to exceed $604,600, to be paid from the site sinking fund.
"Tonight we're asking the board to move to approve the bid for the elevator modernization at Monroe High School and Monroe Middle School at a cost not to exceed $604,600 from Gratton Construction of Monroe, Michigan," Missus Shook told the board when she presented the project. Board members said the work was long overdue; staff noted the middle-school elevator is currently under restricted use and the upgrades will restore full functionality and improve custodial and maintenance routing.
The motion was made, supported and approved by roll call 7-0. Administration said some funding ($300,000) had already been approved for the project and that the additional authorization brings the overall project total to about $900,000 when combined with prior approvals.
