Board approves sale of 3.25-acre Pleasant Road parcel to Habitat for Humanity

The Mineral Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the sale of 3.25 acres on Pleasant Road to Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County for $87,474, Superintendent Andrew Shaw told the board.
"So it is a recommendation we move forward with the approval of the sale of 3.25 acres of property located on the Pleasant Road, from Monroe Public Schools to Habitat for Humanity of Monroe Community County for $87,474," Shaw said as he presented the recommendation and identified two contingencies: a city land-split approval and a satisfactory Phase I environmental study.
Board members who spoke in favor described the parcel as largely unused land that fits into the La Pleasant Road Corridor project and said the sale could dovetail with other neighborhood development efforts, improve walkability and support community housing goals. No board member raised an objection during discussion.
A motion to approve the sale was made and seconded; roll-call votes during the meeting show all seven board members voting yes. The resolution also authorizes Superintendent Shaw to execute documents and take necessary actions to complete the sale if the two contingencies are satisfied.
David Graves, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County, was present for questions but made no substantive statement recorded during the board vote.
