Administrator reports busy weekend at triathlon, urges caution during heat advisory

Administrator Eric reported to the Pleasant Prairie Village Board that the village experienced a busy weekend during the town triathlon and reminded residents and staff to exercise caution during the ongoing heat advisory. "We've been looking forward to it for many months, but summer I think was finally here, we can safely say," Eric said, noting multiple calls and that public safety and public works staff worked through difficult conditions.
Eric said organizers had notified athletes the day before about options to shorten distances because of the heat and that extra water and ice were provided at the event. He estimated sign-ups at about 1,100 to 1,130 but said he did not have final participation counts available. The administrator also noted facility issues earlier in the week, including a temporary air-conditioning outage at the police station that staff addressed.
