In his superintendent's report, Dr. Bennett said Chris Coffey and Brian Shaw will present facility updates and media updates at the next meeting and reminded the board of a pre-bargaining public hearing scheduled before the regular meeting. He thanked board members for attending the district kickoff and previewed the districtwide Kindness Initiative to be shared by principals on Aug. 19.
Dr. Bennett also reported that the district purchased a chiller for Clarksville Elementary School through the Wilson Education Center; removal and installation began the prior day and the work was expected to finish by mid- to late-week next week, with facilities cross-connecting chilled-water piping as a short-term workaround. A director-level speaker provided preliminary enrollment figures: 33 pre-K students, 196 in the district's alternative/virtual program and 5,820 students in the Indiana Gateway Digital Academy, for a combined total of 6,016 students. He said weekly updates will follow until official count day.
