Councilmember Candace M. Faust, who led the DPW update, said the borough "can no longer put off the purchase of a new machine" and asked Administrator William Lucia to place a resolution on the agenda. DPW Director Kenny Sneath told the council the existing grinder is largely useful only for parts and estimated a new tub grinder’s life at "about 20-25 years and if well maintained, 30 years." The new machine is intended to reduce out-of-town hauling costs and allow the borough to accept brush from other municipalities under shared-service agreements, which provides revenue.
Councilmembers discussed repair costs, warranty options and the timing to order equipment so a replacement would be in service when the current contract ends. Councilmember Maria Grazia Escalante requested additional written details on projected revenue and warranty coverage before finalizing long-term maintenance plans. The purchase was approved as part of the consent agenda (Resolution 122-2026) at the regular meeting.
