Board committees back waivers to allow open containers at Ardmore First Friday

The building and planning committee recommended approval of waivers to township code section 111-4.2 to permit patrons to possess and be served alcoholic beverages in designated public rights-of-way for Downtown Ardmore First Friday events on Sept. 4 and Oct. 2, 2026. The recommendation is contingent on the Downtown Ardmore District and co-applicant Tired Hands Fermentaria providing the insurance certificate required by the township.
"I'd like to make a motion to recommend to the board of commissioners approval of waivers of township code 111-4.2 as requested by co-applicants Tired Hands Fermentaria and Downtown Ardmore District," said Commissioner Sparrow. A resident who runs a local newsletter urged earlier event publicity so businesses and residents can plan. The committee voted unanimously to recommend the waivers for the full board's consent calendar.
