West Rusk principal: 35 students have earned career certificates; district on track for higher completion

Jake Jackson, West Rusk County Consolidated ISD High School Principal, told the Board of Trustees that 35 students at his campus have earned an IBC (career-ready) certificate in programs such as welding, agriculture, Serve Safe culinary and phlebotomy.
"Our goal for student certification was set at 25%, as of now we have achieved a 35.4%, and if all of the students on track complete the requirements, the district will have 70% completion," Jackson said. He added that teachers, counselors and parents are supporting student progress toward those credentials.
Jackson said 34 more students are on track to complete certificates before the end of the school year and praised campus staff for their work. The board did not take action on the report itself; it was presented as an informational update during the district report card item.
