City approves $830,000 in design and construction contracts for Tucker Ranch project

City Manager Jon C. Williams presented two agenda items tied to the Tucker Ranch Wellness Park project. He recommended a change order to HDLA Landscape Architects to engage McCoy Design for signage, wayfinding and donor recognition work in the amount of $136,730. "Staff recommended approval to engage HDLA Landscape Architects and McCoy Design for planning and designs services relating to signage and interpretations for Tucker Ranch Wellness Park in the amount of $136,730," Williams stated.
On a related construction package, Williams said the Construction Manager received four bids for package No. 9 (windows, storefront and curtains) and that "Startesta Construction, LLC was the most responsive and responsible bidder." The commission authorized the City Manager to award that contract in the amount of $693,000, which includes a 10% contingency. Commissioners discussed the piecemeal approach to procurement for the project, noting it provides more control over subcontractors and potential cost savings while increasing staff workload. Both motions passed unanimously, 5-0.
