Commission adopts rezoning for small redevelopment at 1144 East Plant Street

City Attorney A. Kurt Ardaman read Ordinance 25-07 by title and Planning Director Kelly Carson described the applicant’s rezoning proposal for approximately 0.25 acres at 1144 East Plant Street to a Character Area Planned Unit Development (CAPUD). Carson said proposed site improvements, landscaping and building designs are consistent with the City’s comprehensive plan and Plant Street area overlay standards.
Mayor John Rees noted an interest in keeping development in the Plant Street area "attractive." Commissioner Chloe Johnson moved to adopt Ordinance 25-07; Commissioner Colin Sharman seconded and the motion carried unanimously 5-0. The rezoning establishes CAPUD requirements for the property and allows the applicant to proceed under the adopted CAPUD parameters.
