West Oso ISD honors Special Olympics athletes, BPA teams and regional qualifiers

The West Oso Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its March 24 meeting with a series of recognitions celebrating student achievement across athletics and career-technical organizations. Board President Velma Rodriguez called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m., and the board recognized Special Olympics athletes, an ESC Region 2 scholarship recipient, and student travel grants for Business Professionals of America (BPA) and the Technology Student Association (TSA) funded by the West Oso ISD Education Foundation.
Presenters included Kimberly Moore, Dr. Roana Rivera and Dr. Esperanza Zendejas for scholarship acknowledgments and a raft of coaches and advisors for athletic recognitions. The board also recognized the West Oso High School BPA team, powerlifting regional qualifiers and both the Lady Bears and Runnin Bears basketball teams. The consent-style recognition items were listed as "Recognition Only" on the agenda and required no board action.
The acknowledgments highlight student participation in extracurricular programs the district supports through district staff, volunteers and the West Oso ISD Education Foundation. The recognitions were presented alongside an informational Balanced Scorecard report on staffing and other agenda items. The meeting record notes no public comments during the open forum and adjournment at 8:49 p.m.
