Council introduces ordinance expanding incentives and exemptions for volunteer first‑aid, EMS and fire members

On Feb. 18 the council introduced Ordinance O‑26‑7 to amend the borough’s incentives code for active volunteer first‑aid, emergency medical services and fire company members. The ordinance changes the title, revises the definition of 'family' to mean an active member, spouse and dependent children under 21 who reside with the member in West Long Branch, and amends the list of exemptions to include zoning permits and park fees among covered benefits.
Councilman Bray moved introduction of the ordinance and Councilman Penta seconded. The council set a public hearing for March 4, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. if the ordinance is to proceed to further consideration.
