The West Long Branch Mayor and Council on Feb. 18 adopted an enabling resolution to pursue Green Acres funding for improvements to Sorrentino Park. The council asked Borough Administrator Jason Gonter to apply for a $125,000 Green Acres grant toward a project estimated at $500,000 and to serve as the borough’s official correspondent for the application.
Councilmember Bray said the borough would provide a required local match, listed in the resolution as $375,000, and that the resolution is subject to the borough CFO confirming availability of those funds. The resolution notes that the State will determine final award amounts and that the borough will comply with applicable state and federal rules if a grant is awarded. Mayor Janet W. Tucci presided during the adoption of the resolution.
