Community Development and Public Works staff provided a range of project updates during the Board meeting. Community Development reported roughly 1,600 parkway trees inventoried to date (about half the town) as part of a tree inventory performed by Great Lakes Urban Forestry. The memo notes Ulta Beauty’s interior remodel has requested rough inspections and is expected to open in the first or second quarter of 2026; 7 Brew remains pending IDOT and MWRD approvals; and a ground-breaking for 8001 Edgewater was tentatively scheduled for March 31, 2026 pending final permit approvals.
Public Works reported progress on DesPlaines Avenue street lighting (foundations installed, directional boring of conduit, concrete restoration and new wiring in progress), paving and traffic-signal work at Cermak Road & Harlem Ave, and a fiber-optic installation from York Rd to Cicero Ave with ADA improvements in the construction zone. The Public Works memo also details ongoing lead water-service-line identification, meter work and a planned watermain replacement design for 17th Street (2200 and 2300 blocks) that will include replacement of services that do not meet EPA requirements.
