Finance Committee approves raise to liquor-license processing fee to $500

The City of Palos Heights Finance Committee amended Ordinance No. 114.20 on Feb. 10 to increase the nonrefundable liquor-license processing fee from $100 to $500.
City Administrator Adam Jasinski said the change responds to an outdated fee structure: "The current ordinance has not been updated since 1975." Chairman McGrogan moved the amendment and Alderman Brennan seconded; the motion passed unanimously on a voice vote. Alderman Scully noted the committee could consider tailoring fees by business square footage or hours of operation, and Jasinski said he will compare other municipalities' fees and applications for reference.
The ordinance change affects the nonrefundable processing portion of liquor-license applications; the committee did not change other license terms during the meeting. The amendment was recorded as an action to update Ordinance No. 114.20 and will be reflected in the next formal ordinance publication and council record.
