District report: average daily attendance high but chronic absenteeism persists
Summary
District staff reported average daily attendance around 93.25% but said about 20.8% of students meet the district's chronic-absenteeism threshold (missing more than two days per month); the attendance team is meeting monthly and pursuing truancy actions when contracts are not followed.

Diana presented the March attendance report, summarizing daily-attendance averages and chronic-absence trends. "That's average daily attendance — on any given day, if you have 100 kids, 93 of them are attending," Diana said, while flagging the larger problem of chronic absenteeism, which she reported at roughly 20.8% as of March 4, 2026.
Diana told the board the district has an attendance team meeting monthly and is filing truancy actions for students not complying with attendance contracts. She noted the district is tracking state and national trends that show higher absenteeism among students from disadvantaged homes and said staff will continue pursuing interventions and reporting back as they refine data on truancy actions taken during the month.
