Commission ratifies IAFF Local 4947 “B” Group collective bargaining agreement through 2027

The city ratified a tentative agreement with IAFF Local 4947 “B” Group covering Oct. 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2027, with staff noting changes mainly to leave benefits and wages to align with local municipalities and the city’s recently ratified “A” Group contract.
The Winter Garden City Commission approved and ratified a collective bargaining agreement with IAFF Local 4947 “B” Group on March 13, 2025. Human Resources Director Cheryl Jones told the commission the agreement covers Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2027, and contains predominantly minor modifications focused on leave benefits and wages.
Jones said the negotiated terms bring the City more closely in line with neighboring municipalities and the recently ratified IAFF “A” Group contract for firefighters, engineers and lieutenants. Commissioner Lisa L. Bennett moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Colin Sharman seconded and the motion carried unanimously, 5-0. Ms. Jones publicly thanked those involved in negotiations and Mayor John Rees voiced appreciation.
