Carlette Mills, West Rusk Elementary Principal, presented a midyear update on the campus report card at the March 24 West Rusk County Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees meeting. She said second-grade students are scoring 61% in reading and 90% in math at midyear and described teacher-led classroom interventions to address comprehension for beginning readers.
Mills praised school staff and families and emphasized continued classroom intervention. "Our teachers are doing an excellent job and I can say that West Rusk has great teachers, students, counselors and parents," she said. The report provided the trustees with a snapshot of progress ahead of end-of-year assessments and was presented during the district reports portion of the agenda.
