Planning board approves 2027–2032 capital improvement program, forwards to City Council

The Omaha Planning Board on Aug. 5 voted unanimously to approve the draft 2027–2032 Capital Improvement Program and forward it to a City Council public hearing.
Joe Coniglio, the planning department's CIP administrator, summarized the review process: departments and a CIP task force evaluated candidate projects, staff worked with finance to fit projects within the six‑year period, and the mayor reviewed the package in recent weeks. "From there, we work with the finance department to make these projects fit within our budget within this 6 year period," Coniglio said. He told the board the next step is a council public hearing next week and hoped for final approval by the end of August.
City staff recommended approval. After a short discussion and a motion to approve, the board recorded a 5–0 vote in favor. The board's action sends the CIP to the City Council for a public hearing and final disposition; any changes from the council were not discussed at the meeting.
