Board recognizes Dr. Ruby Harris's tenure; approves personnel slate and welcomes interim safety director

The Huntington Union Free School District Board of Education used part of its Aug. 3 meeting to approve personnel schedules and recognize a leadership milestone.
Administrators asked the board to approve personnel items across numerous schedules; the motions carried. The board also welcomed Jared Stein as interim director of safety and security. "We are welcoming back mister Jared Stein as the interim director of safety and security," an administrator said, noting continuity in the role.
Board members celebrated Dr. Ruby Harris after the board previously approved her tenure. An administrator recounted Harris's arrival in July 2023 and praised her financial leadership: "Since joining the Huntington Union Free School District in July 2023 ... Dr. Harris has made an extraordinary impact on our district through her exceptional leadership, financial expertise, and commitment to excellence," the administrator said. Board members thanked Harris for work on long-range financial planning and clear presentation of budgets.
The personnel slate also named several instructional hires by position and school during announcements (special education teachers and health teacher among others). The board did not alter personnel terms during the meeting; approvals were recorded as recommended by the superintendent.
