Dr. Rob Campbell presented a revised draft of the Wimberley ISD legislative priorities and trustees discussed suggested edits to better reflect district needs. Board member Lexi Jones urged that the draft include updated language addressing the diversion of public tax dollars to private schools, homeschool programs, or other educational options that do not adhere to the same standards and requirements as Texas public schools.
After discussion on specificity and local control concerns, trustees moved to approve the WISD Legislative Priorities Draft; the motion by Lexi Jones, seconded by Lindsey Deringer, passed with a recorded vote of 6'0, 0 nays and 1 absence. The approved draft directs district advocacy staff and board leadership to carry the priorities forward in state advocacy and to provide final language for public distribution.
