Residents press council on school board involvement and report tile factory nighttime activity

Gabriella (last name inaudible), who earlier asked the council to amend the cannabis ordinance, returned to clarify that cannabis applicants cannot apply without a municipal resolution of support and that the Cannabis Regulatory Commission has separate rules. Larry of 116 Taylor Street said trucks were running all night and mud from a tile factory was strewn on the street; Manager Brian Bond responded that the property had been issued a stop order and that the Department of Environmental Protection and Warren County HazMat were involved. Rita Rose and Colleen Redburn urged more community engagement with the Board of Education, citing tax increases and superintendent compensation; council members encouraged residents to attend school board meetings and to consider running for the board.
Council members thanked speakers and reiterated the need for civic engagement; Manager Bond summarized that the borough expects no tax increase for solid and sewer bills and noted upcoming projects and revenue-generation efforts.
