Student Services outlines program realignment to improve IEP compliance and supports

At the June 18 meeting, Krissy Goebbert, Director of Student Services, briefed the Board on this year's priorities and operational changes intended to strengthen special-education service delivery and IEP compliance. To address inconsistencies across buildings the department implemented standardized procedures and checklists, provided targeted professional development, and collaborated with a district attorney on special-education law.
Goebbert outlined programmatic seat adjustments made after a workload and enrollment review: reopening a program at Currier, adding a classroom at Gary, and closing programs at Leman and Pioneer. The department has also enhanced Tier 1 behavior supports and increased staff training in crisis prevention and de-escalation. Goebbert told the Board the department will continue aligning services and bring its upcoming goals to the July meeting for further Board review.
