The Board of Education of the D C Everest Area School District on Oct. 22 adopted a $113,183,712.47 budget for the 2024–25 fiscal year and approved a total property tax levy of $25,935,544.
The board resolution, which cites Sec. 65.90(1) and 65.90(2), Wis. Stats., breaks the levy into several components: a general property tax of $12,967,946; Fund 38 energy-efficiency debt service of $2,035,750; referendum debt service tied to voter-approved facility improvements of $10,476,894; an additional $450,000 to operate community-benefit programs (including 3K and community youth/adult sporting activities at the GTCC); and $4,954 in prior-year property tax chargebacks. The budget summary had been published Oct. 7, 2024, and a public hearing was held on Oct. 22 at 6:00 p.m., as noted in the adopted resolution.
The motion to adopt the budget was made by Board President Lindsey Lewitzke and seconded by Shannon Grabko and passed on a roll-call vote: five Yeas, zero Nays, with two members absent (Ben Bliven and Joshua Dickerson). The minutes record the action as a formal roll-call adoption of the budget and levy.
