District implements temporary fixes for water intrusion at elementary electrical room; spring follow-up planned

The committee received an update from Director of Maintenance Dave DeVoe on water entering the elementary school's electrical room via underground wiring conduits. Staff applied sandbags around the electrical box on the south side of the upper parking lot and added a concrete swale on the west side of the sidewalk; "since the completion of these two projects, there has been very little rain, but there has been no water coming into the building," the minutes state.
DeVoe said the district will reassess the repairs in spring when snowmelt and runoff return, and that he plans to contact Alliant Energy to ask whether the utility can raise the conduit entry. The committee also discussed adding two concrete posts to protect the electrical box near the parking lot and installing additional sidewalk grates to divert water into the swale; these are listed as potential follow-ups rather than approved actions.
