Contractor flags design delays on Madison County Courthouse project; Virginia City mayor asks later start time for noise

A Jackson Contractor Group representative told the Madison County Board of Commissioners on July 13 that unresolved design questions and existing-site conditions are creating delays and potential cost impacts for the Madison County Courthouse rehabilitation and addition project. Alec LaBelle said the contractor has experienced delayed responses to Requests for Information and reiterated "the required turnaround time of 7 days for the design team to respond to the contractor's RFI." Commissioners Duke W. Gilman, Ron E. Nye and William A. Todd discussed schedule and coordination concerns after the presentation.
Virginia City Mayor Justin Gatewood addressed the commissioners during the courthouse update and asked that construction noise "not start before 8:00 AM," while also saying the town would permit work to continue until 6:00 PM instead of the current 5:00 PM stop time. The update did not include a formal change to construction hours; commissioners heard the request and discussed next steps. The board did not take an immediate vote on contractor remedies, change orders or scheduling at the work session.
